2000 GUINEAS 1878

The 70th winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Wednesday 8th May 1878 over the Rowley Mile, was Pilgrimage (2/1 fav), a chestnut filly by The Palmer (or The Earl) out of Lady Audley, owned by the 4th Earl of Lonsdale. The winner won by 1/2 a length in 1 minute 56 secs, with 1 1/2 lengths back to the third. A field of 10 runners contested the race which was worth £4,650 (Equivalent to £497,600 in 2017)
